The NO-building, the ITS and the main building of the ETH are close to the main station of Zürich (about 10 minutes walking).
How to get to Zürich
Zürich main station is well connected and easy to reach from many parts of Europe.
The closest airport is Zurich Ariport (ZRH). Under certain circumstances, it could be convenient to fly to other airports (e.g. Munich, Frankfurt, Paris).
There is a good train connection from the airport to the mainstation. This is operated by many different
lines (e.g. S 2, S 16, S 24, several IC- or IR-lines). You should easily find the train station at the
airport and there are signs indicating where the next trains are going.
You should buy the ticket before boarding the train.
To purchase a ticket for the train from the airport to the main station, you can either use one of the
vending machines (type Zürich HB as destination and purchase a one way ticket) or you can use the
ZVV ticket app.
A one way ticket costs 6,80 CHF and permits you to choose any sort of train.
Offices
There are some offices and a common room in the ITS at our disposal, which we can freely use for discussions.
Lunch
The ETH offers a variety of different student restaurants (the closest ones from our lecture hall would be: Clausiusbar, food&lab, and Tannenbar).
In addition there are some restaurants along Weinbergstrasse (ca. 2-5 minutes) and a large variety of restaurants along Niederdorfstrasse (ca. 10-20 minutes).
Free afternoon
There are two outings suggested for the free afternoon.
- A boat trip on the lake. You need a daily tiket of ZVV to Thalwil (cost: 13,60 CHF), which we can buy at the tram station. The round trip on the boat will take 1 1/2 hours. Afterwards, we can stay next to the lake for a nice swimm. Please bring sun protection and enough water to drink (and potentially your swimm suit).
- An afternoon in the art museum ("Kunsthaus"). This is a free option: The Kunsthaus is just a short walk away + free entry to the Kunsthaus on Wednesdays.
Conference dinner
The conference dinner will take place on Tuesday 4th of June at 19:00h at the Restaurant Glockenhof (Sihlstrasse 31, 8001 Zürich). You can only participate if you registered with our administration earlier.
Miscellaneous
Zürich offers a variety of places where it is free to take a bath. If you enjoy swimming, it might be worth to bring swimmwear.
